Christmas Party

Sundays Christmas Party was great!

Thanks for making it a great party. The jumping castle was the prime attraction for the kids, I saw a few adults eyeing it off as well…

Congratulations are in order for those who received awards.

The recipients were;

  • Endurance under pressure – Tania Chaplain
  • Serving Faithfully – Jake Burns
  • Awesome Parents – John and Linda

Of course there was the perpetual “Foot in Mouth Award” and this year I was the clear winner. To make myself feel better I have to mention that James Alley passed it on to me from 2009.

We also had an award for the “Best Dressed Ladies” of which Robyn and Elaine were the clear winners for their enthusiastic involvement in the Good Samaritan skit.

The presence of the Holy Spirit

I was struck again how important it is to walk in His presence filled with His Spirit. I wandered into the auditorium at Oasis today to check out a name on the mission’s board and believe it or not as I entered I immediately sensed the presence of God. I was alone it was quiet and dim due to cloud cover and yet He was there waiting. I quickly changed my agenda and just paced back and forward in his presence allowing him to fill me it was amazing!

I desire deeper intimacy and relationship with God and because of that desire I have made a commitment to pursue the deeper things of God. Through this pursuit I have learnt to discern the spiritual atmosphere and know when his presence is dwelling tangibly in a place. This enables me to stop and be filled.

My challenge to you is “Pursue deeper intimacy with him!”

How?

keep asking for it until it comes, pursue it!

It was a privilege to minister to Linda and john and the family and friends at Amelia’s funeral yesterday. What a great opportunity to honour John and Linda and also acknowledge that Amelia is now in the arms of Jesus. She is eternally one with Him.

This Sunday

Church Christmas Party. Come and celebrate with us as we reflect on the past year, give out some awards, have some fun and have a signature coffee made by Ps Nick

See you Sunday!

The challenge and joys of life

Sometimes life throws challenge and joy at us in a short period of time. As we as a church come to grips with the news of Amelia going to be with Jesus we have also received news of Beth and Brenton’s third child Caleb arriving on Tuesday and Ann Parry’s first grandchild Sosuke.

Please keep Linda and John in your prayers as they work through their loss. I have met with them and they are displaying great character and Godliness. To me they are champions. As of yet the day for Amelia’s ceremony has not been announced however I will keep you informed.

On Sunday we will have some corporate prayer for Linda and John and also celebrate with the families of our new babies.

We also have the privilege of having Ps Gary Swenson and his wife Lorna visiting and sharing with us this Sunday. Please come and join with us in corporate worship and be blessed by Ps Gary’s ministry.

Remember

“You make Bayside Church a great Church!”

Wrapping up a great year!

It is that time of year again suddenly there are only 5 Sundays left before Christmas! It always seems to creep up on me!

Let me encourage you during this Christmas season to bless someone you know and let them hear from your lips how much you appreciate them and how much God loves them.

We also have a great opportunity in the next few weeks to invite people to our Christmas Party on the 5th of December and to our Christmas dinner on the 19th of December. These two events are about celebrating the great things God has done for us as a church and also connecting socially to build relationship with each other.

Pray for a new Location!

Hi Baysiders!

I have been suitably challenged this week by a seminar I attended on Tuesday. David McCraken was the speaker; he is a well known prophet in Australia. He challenged us pastors to reignite the truth of the word of God in our churches and to not “plant local churches” but establish Kingdom ministries. He reminded us that the church/people are a vehicle/vessel for Him to fulfil the mission of the Kingdom. This kingdom mission is, “His will done on earth as it is in heaven.”

The question that comes to my mind is, how do I do this? The answer, hear his voice (through intimacy and relationship) and obey it (faith in action).
Simple really…

Bayside, Sandgate and Faylene Sparks

I really enjoyed Faylene Sparkes last Sunday. She is a whirlwind of passion and prophecy. I liked the fact that she is dynamically different from me and has taped into her role in the body of Christ. The feedback from people has been very positive. If you have any questions or confusion about a word she may have given you please chat to me about it. We are advised in the word to examine prophesy and exercise wisdom. I would love to hear what the Lord is saying to you. I have a number of prophesies recorded on the laptop please bring a USB stick or CD on Sunday and we will give you yours to keep.

I spent Wednesday and Thursday with Ps. Dave Paroz, from Sandgate Baptist Church, in Toowoomba at a seminar/retreat for pastors interested in church unity. We had a great time getting to know each other and realising we have similar thoughts in many areas. The major difference we had was that I am a Holden man and he is a Ford man! We came away throwing some ideas around as to how we could partner together more effectively. This can only be good spiritually for our area.
